Overview

Description and Specifications:
In accordance with 30 ILCS 500/20-30, the Department of Natural Resources requires an emergency procurement for the Wolf Branch Middle School Sag Subsidence Phase I project.

This construction project will eliminate the hazards to pedestrians associated with sag type subsidence by installing a perimeter chain link fence around the existing unstable structure. Exploratory subsurface drilling will verify the depth and extent of mine voids under the structure and aid in design and implementation of a Phase II mine grouting project.

The Abandoned Mined Lands Reclamation Division (AMLRD) receives federal dollars for the sole purpose of eliminating mine related public health and safety hazards.

Statement of Emergency is provided by attachment.

These emergency services are being procured in accordance with 30 ILCS 500/20-30.

Emergency Justification:Emergency construction services. The Department will obtain contractor to install a perimeter chain link fence, conduct subsurface drilling, sampling, and laboratory testing at the Wolf Branch Middle School located at 410 Huntwood Road in Swansea.

The Abandoned Mined Lands Reclamation Division (AMLRD) receives federal dollars for the sole purpose of eliminating mine related public health and safety hazards.

Benefits to the State include the protection of the public safety using 100% federal funds and fulfillment of the Division's mission as defined by the federal AML program.
