Overview

Description and Specifications:
The Illinois Department of Agriculture is publishing a Sole Economically Feasible Source notice for GES Exposition Services, Inc. to construct and dismantle show booths at the 2010 Food Marketing Institute (FMI) show, as the official show contractor, from May 11 - 13, 2010 in Las Vegas for $37369.26.

Key Information

Notice Type:Sole Economically Feasible Source

Published:11/16/2009
Notice Expiration Date:11/30/2009
Sole Source Only Justification:GES Exposition Services is the official show contractor for the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The benefit of itilizing GES as the official show contractor is that GES does not charge for drayage of rental properties. Drayage is a per hundred weight charge (example below) of properties coming in and out of the building (Mandalay Bay Convention Center). With GES as the official contractor, everything belongs to them including the laborers etc. If we were to utilize a non-official contractor, the same booth that we rent would cost $6,200 more making it more financially beneficial to use GES. The non-official contractor has to pay GES fees to provide services as a non-official vendor.

Example of drayage charge: (official vs. non-official show contractors):
Booth weighs approximately 10,000 pounds (includes furniture, carpeting etc.) divided by .62 per lb. (price per hundred weigh)=$6,200 more than we would have to pay with a non-official show contractor.

When the show begins, all non-official show contractors are required to leave the show facilities. However, GES - as the official contractor - is on site for the duration of the show and can not only provide installation and dismantling services but can meet any client needs during the show.
