|The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is entering into two emergency service contracts for the removal of mold from various building structures at the Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreational Area Resort complex. The complex is typically operated as a leased concession and is a source of revenue to the state. However, the resort complex is currently closed for operation due to the potential health |
risks related to microbial growth. IDNR maintains the role of stewardship for the facility and these services are necessary to remediate microbial contamination of building materials, HVAC systems, equipment, fixtures and furnishings. If IDNR does not proceed with this procurement, the facility will remain closed due to associated health risks to employees and visitors and the building structures will continue to degrade.
Contracts shall be awarded to the following: GenCorp Services for mold remediation services and Environmental Consultants for oversight of the remediation activities as outlined below.
The remediation contractor will remove microbial contamination of moisture-damaged and microbially impacted building materials, HVAC systems, equipment, fixtures and furnishings within the Rend Lake Resort complex. Remediation efforts will include drywalls, carpeting, floor tile, ceiling tile, wood beams, cabinetry, doors and frames, ceramic wall tile, wallpaper, HVAC systems, paneling, coolers, freezers, lighting fixtures, windows and skylights, wood framing, insulation, wall cavities and furnishings. Buildings to be abated include the Rend Lake Resort Conference Center, Cabins, Windjammer, Schooner and Flagship Boatels, Gift & Bait Shop Building and the Rend Lake Resort Restaurant and Bar Building. The environmental consultant will provide project oversight of remediation activities, perform post remediation sampling, and provide project closeout report.
