Contractor isolated the 10" supply and return lines leading to the facility from the boiler room. Contractor disconnected all fittings, piping, and valves that were no longer needed. Contractor installed new schedule 40 pipe to butterfly valves. Contractor installed welded expansion joints. Contractor insulated pipe. At the end of phase I, the contractor was unable to connect to the existing pipe that lead to the facility. the existing pipe was in too poor of condition.
The total cost of the project is now over $100,000 this is now an emergency procurement for a hot water pipe that carries water from the heat plant to the facility. Procurement includes removing concrete, digging earth to expose leaking pipe, replace damaged section of pipe, test the repair to ensure that the repair is sound, backfill the site with sand and gravel, and replace concrete which was originally removed. The contractor was currently on site repairing the Heater Line when additional Repair Work was discovered to be needed to complete the repairs.
