|On June 14, 2012, Senate Bill 2840 Save Medicaid Access and Resources together (SMART) Act was signed into law. The SMART Act requires, within 60 days, for the Chief Procurement Officer for General Services (CPOGS), in consultation with the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) to conduct and complete any procurement necessary to procure a vendor to verify eligibility for assistance under Article V of the Public Aid Code. An enhanced eligibility verification contract shall be awarded for an initial 2-year period with a maximum of 2 one-year renewal options. |
While the procurement is exempt from the provisions of the Procurement Code under the SMART Act, the solicitation will be conducted in a competitive and transparent manner. The CPOGS and HFS anticipate posting a solicitation to choose an enhanced eligibility verification vendor on the Illinois Procurement Bulletin by July 13, 2012. A mandatory vendor conference will take place by no later than July 19, 2012. Selection criteria for a vendor will be outlined in the solicitation document and an anticipated award will be made by August 14, 2012.
Vendors interested in participating in this solicitation should monitor the Illinois Procurement Bulletin for further announcements.
